Race pool

How Pixel Lineage races work

A Pixel Lineage race is rolled with a Race Spin and then kept until you reroll or evolve it. Each race carries its own rarity, bonuses and an evolution stage, so the pick shapes both your early game and what your build can become later. Every entry in the tables below is one of the Pixel Lineage races you can actually pull, so there is no filler and nothing event-only hiding inside the numbers. Reading the Pixel Lineage races side by side is how you weigh a drop rate, a rarity band and an evolution note before you commit a spin. The pool below is the set that Race Spins actually draw from.

Rarity bands

Pixel Lineage race drop rates, rarity and roll chance summary

Rarity groups races by how often they appear rather than by how strong they are. The combined drop rates below are calculated from the drop rate published for each race in the pool, so they describe the odds of landing somewhere inside a band rather than the odds of one specific race. On this page drop rate and roll chance are two names for the same figure: the published odds that any of the Pixel Lineage races turns up from a Race Spin, which is why the drop rate column and the roll chance column below never disagree.

RarityRacesCombined roll chance
Mythic43.61%
Rare423.92%
Uncommon434.79%
Common137.68%

Rarity only describes how often a race appears. Which race is actually the stronger pick is answered on the Pixel Lineage tier list and on the Race Spin calculator.

The list

All Pixel Lineage races — rarity, roll chance, ability and EVO

The table lists every rollable race with its rarity, tier, published drop rate, signature ability and evolution note. A blank ability means the sources do not record a named signature skill for that race, which is common for the stat-only picks. It is exhaustive for the Pixel Lineage races you can roll, which is why the event-only Dullahan is held back in its own section further down.

Ranking

Pixel Lineage race tiers at a glance (S to D)

The bands below group the pool into S-to-D at a glance. Each placement reflects the documented bonuses and the evolution note rather than rarity alone, which is why the Rare race Vesper sits in the same band as the Mythic picks for magic builds.

This is a quick orientation rather than the final verdict. The full race ranking that weighs the Pixel Lineage races against the classes they suit lives on the tier list page.

Tier S

3 races
  • Nightborne — Sustain engine that never stops healing

Ranked S by Destructoid after the Race EVO update. The per-move heal cap matters more than the headline 15% on hard-hitting builds.

  • Celestine — Flat crit, dodge and magic in one package

The most commonly recommended Mythic roll because the bonuses apply to any damage-focused class.

  • Vesper — Rare-tier magic burst that punches above its rarity

The clearest example of the Race EVO update making a Rare race competitive: you do not need a Mythic roll for a magic build.

Tier A

2 races
  • Seraph — Party-wide damage reduction and stronger healing

Best when you play with other people, because Angelic Blessing covers the whole party rather than just you.

  • Sylvan — Summoned fairy ally plus nature damage

Ranked A by Destructoid. The build is narrow — it wants nature damage support rather than general stats.

Tier B

3 races
  • Tideborn — Free healing at the start of every turn

A natural first tank: the passive healing runs without any input, so it forgives early mistakes.

  • Ashborn — Cheap attack and HP stack

Sources disagree on the exact HP figure: one guide lists +2% max HP while the tier-list tables list +8% max HP. Treat the attack bonus as the reliable part and re-check the HP value in game.

  • Stonekin — Best beginner race for Fist builds

Sources list +15% or +15 percentage points on Fist attacks; either way the bonus only pays off if you actually play Fist.

Tier C

3 races
  • Mushroom — Retaliation poison when you get hit

The trigger condition is the problem: you only get value while taking damage, so it scales badly as your build improves.

  • Slime — Blunt resistance with a fire weakness

The fire weakness is a real cost, not a footnote: check which bosses deal fire damage before committing.

  • Dwarf — Plain HP and defence, no drawback

Ranked below Slime by Destructoid because it trades the sustain and blunt resistance for a smaller, safer stat package.

Tier D

2 races
  • Human — Default roll — levels your class faster

More than a third of all rolls are Human. It is not a dead roll — the Class Mastery bonus is real — but it does not scale into the late game.

  • Goblin — Farming race — more Gold, more bonus loot

Sources disagree on the bonus loot chance (3% versus 6%). Only worth holding if you can swap to it for farming, since the combat value is the lowest in the pool.

Event only

Pixel Lineage event races you cannot roll

Event races are bought with event currency rather than rolled, so they do not appear in the pool and get no roll chance. 1 event race is recorded here, and it is listed separately on purpose so its absence from the odds above is obvious.

Dullahan

MythicNot rollable

Halloween event race with an area burst skill

Not in the roll pool. It is bought from the Candy Witch's stall for 10,000 Candy during the Halloween event, so it disappears from the shop when the event ends.

Signature ability
Headless Ride
Best for
Any class · Finishing low-HP bosses · Area damage
Recorded bonuses
  • +5% maximum HP
  • +5% Defence
  • +3% Crit
  • Headless Ride hits every foe, scaling with whichever of Attack or Magic is higher
  • +50% damage against enemies at 30% HP or less
  • May leave enemies Weakened for 2 turns
Evolution

Pixel Lineage race evolution (EVO) explained

Race Evolution is the second upgrade layer after the roll itself. It does not change which race you have; it strengthens the same identity, which is why some races climb the ranking after evolving and others stay where they started.

The evolution artefacts are recorded as coming from surviving Hard and Nightmare runs, and every race — including Human — can awaken. Treat evolution as a long-term goal rather than something you finish on a fresh save, and check the per-race notes below before spending the materials.

Pixel Lineage race screen illustrating how the roster and its bonuses are presented

Nightborne

S

The evolution stage keeps the lifesteal identity and adds an overheal shield plus bonus damage against low-HP enemies, which is why it holds S tier against bosses.

Celestine

S

The crit, dodge and magic bonuses all scale further with the evolution stage, which is what moved it from the old best-DPS race into a scaling S-tier pick.

Vesper

S

At full evolution the magic bonus approaches 30%, which is why a Rare roll is ranked alongside the Mythic picks for magic builds.

Seraph

A

The evolution leans further into self-healing, making it a stronger solo sustain pick than Tideborn for most fights.

Sylvan

A

Evolution adds area healing and poison from the Sylph, which is why it climbs to A tier despite being a Rare roll.

Tideborn

B

The evolution raises the healing and adds debuff cleansing, but the improvement is described as modest next to the S-tier options.

Ashborn

B

The evolution keeps the attack boost and adds more survivability, but it stays a minor overall upgrade compared with the Mythic rolls.

Stonekin

B

The Fist damage bonus survives the evolution, but the rest of the kit stays small, so it stays a niche pick for one class.

Mushroom

C

Evolution adds a spore cloud, but the value still depends on being hit, which is the opposite of what a good run wants.

Slime

C

Evolution adds a fire damage debuff on enemies, but the extra fire weakness still caps it against fire-heavy bosses.

Dwarf

C

The evolution improves the same two stats, so the ceiling stays low but nothing about the race works against you.

Human

D

Humans can awaken too, but the base kit is progression speed rather than combat power, so the evolution does not fix the damage gap.

Goblin

D

Evolution adds minor combat stats, but the race is designed around farming rather than fighting.

Free spins

How to get free Race Spins in Pixel Lineage

The reliable source of Race Spins outside normal play is redeemable codes. TUTORIAL awards 3 Race Spins and TORMENT awards 8 Race Spins; the single-source entry LEGENDS lists 5 Race Spins but is published by one tracker only, so treat a rejection as expected rather than as a broken code.

Pixel Lineage codes records every reward with its date and status, so you can see which Race Spin rewards are confirmed by several trackers and which are unconfirmed. Before spending a large bank of spins on one target, the Race Spin calculator shows the odds of hitting it within a given number of spins.

Common questions

FAQ

How many races are there in Pixel Lineage?

The rollable pool holds 13 races, and the Halloween event adds one more: Dullahan. Dullahan is not in the pool, so it never appears from a Race Spin.

What are the Pixel Lineage race roll chances?

The published chances for the 13 rollable races add up to 100.00%, so they describe one complete pool. Human is the most common roll at 37.68%, while Nightborne sits at the low end at 0.72%.

Can you get Dullahan from a Race Spin in Pixel Lineage?

No. Dullahan is bought from the Candy Witch stall for 10,000 Candy during the Halloween event, so it is never rolled from the pool and disappears from the shop when the event ends.

How do you evolve a race in Pixel Lineage?

Every race can awaken, including Human, and the evolution artefacts come from surviving Hard and Nightmare runs. The exact evolution text for each race is listed on this page so you can compare what changes before spending the materials.

Which Pixel Lineage race should you chase first?

It depends on the class you play. Nightborne and Celestine hold S tier for sustain and balanced damage, and the Race EVO update lifted the Rare race Vesper next to them for magic builds, so a Mythic roll is not always the only target worth chasing.

How do you get free Race Spins in Pixel Lineage?

Race Spins come from redeemable codes. TUTORIAL and TORMENT both award Race Spins, and the codes page records each reward with its date and status so you can see which are confirmed and which a single source lists.
